Dreamforms are interdimensional beings who act as an immune system for the fabric of reality and ensures the continuation of the multiverse. They exist in a partnership, their soul linked with a soul partner who assists them with their goals.NightmaresNightmares are Dreamforms with a soul similar to black holes. Phantasms act as an output for the corruption collected by their Nightmare, turning it into neutral potentia and soulfire. They hold the redemption ability, and are born with a longing to find and connect with their Nightmare.

A constant throughout the multiverse is a power source called potentia. How this source looks differs depending on the universe and the way it’s defined by that universe’s residents. Potentia is used and processed through the soul in response to actions one takes. This creates one of three types of potentia.
Positive potentia is generally created by actions that give, create, or otherwise bring something into existence, and negative potentia is generated by actions that take, destroy, or otherwise remove something from existence. All other actions simply expel neutral potentia. Neutral potentia simply returns to the air, the emotional effects not enough to bind it to the soul.
Often there is overlap in what type is produced, actions typically producing both negative and positive. Equal amounts of negative and positive potentia nullify each other and whatever is left over from either is what affects the soul.
Ripping Open The Void
Messing with the natural ecosystem of potentia in your universe is very dangerous, but is easy to do without realizing it when one tries to step outside the laws of their reality. For example, if a soul was born with a limit to their lifespan, altering their physicality or the soul it’s self in order to become immortal would create a tear in their reality leading to the void. Great acts of reality bending like unnatural immortality are always going to damage the fabric of reality. A tear in reality doesn't spell the death of a universe if this tear is eventually closed, or corruption levels are maintained. This is why Dreamforms exist.
Balance
In the end, a person is healthiest when they can balance positive and negative potentia. This can be achieved through a variety of means. Therapy, outside guidance from someone who understands the fabric of reality, and certain spiritual practices like shadow work are directly targeting this balance.
Other practices can help develop a balance between these two forces if used properly, like prayer, meditation, activism, charity, radical acceptance, and engaging in harmless hobbies that delve into the darker aspects of life.
It's very important to note that these are not forces of good vs evil, rather it is more like forces of give vs take. Sometimes you need to take, and sometimes giving isn't the best way forward. Most actions, as mentioned, do both giving and taking, morality of those actions aside.
Scrying
When one looks into the future, they are seeing the reason potentia is named potentia. Potentia is not only what powers potential actions, but in a way, potentia is potential actions. One can know the many branching paths life takes by gazing into potentia. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell which path is the true path.
Every potential outcome is possible, though some may be less likely than others. Most future seers are simply given a single possibility of the future when they tap into potentia. Those who get more potential futures may simply be guessing which outcome is more likely. Anyone who claims to be 100% accurate is lying, or misunderstands the nature of their abilities.
Potentia that has already been processed into positive or negative potentia does not show the future but rather holds imprints of the past. Much like how water is reused on earth, so too is potentia. And it remembers all the things it has done. Hindsight is 20/20 and in scrying that is no exception.
Negative Potentia
Negative potentia has three forms. Typical negative potentia is inert and doesn't have any special properties. It is just a basic waste product from expended potentia. Corruption is created by actions that mess with the fabric of reality or from negative actions in a universe with a tear to the void. Void is what happens when too much corruption coalesces in one place.
Corruption
Corruption builds around the soul, creating a barrier to ones own core values and beliefs, and often creates gaps in memory and cognition. Corruption burns like acid if touched, and can slowly burn through anything aside from the body it belongs to. Corruption burns can be very serious and should be treated as soon as possible.
Void
Void tends to be stronger than corruption. Void forms when large amounts of corruption begin to coalesce. The Void is named after the substance and is entirely made up of it. The void is the space between universes, or rather a conglomeration of the universes destroyed by void poisoning. These universes are now one big empty space filled with monstrous creatures that do nothing but devour any light they can find. But it is also home to the Ala’kar, an incredibly varied genus of sentient void beings that have built whole societies within the dark landscape. Ala’kar are a separate species owned by MoonflowerSerif.
Void in the realm of light has devastating effects that can and will bring that universe into the graveyard of the void. All beings within will either die or be transformed into more denizens of the void, though Nightmares specifically will simply die if they enter. Every species in the void was once a species of light.
Positive Potentia
Like negative potentia, positive potentia has three forms. Natural positive potentia is inert and has no special effects. Soulfire is the fabric of reality’s immune response to the presence of corruption. Light is what happens when large amounts of Soulfire gathers in one place.
Soulfire
Soulfire builds up heightening the connection between one's soul and self. It burns away at corruption till one or both substances deteriorate. In this way, they balance each other out naturally if one lives a balanced life. Soulfire is overwhelmingly cold to the touch but is very soothing to be near.
It doesn’t cause damage on contact but instead begins burning at whatever corruption exists in the person touching it. Nightmares cannot safely touch Soulfire unless they want to experience excruciating pain.
In the same way, void creatures of any kind will be harmed by soulfire. Coalesced Soulfire creates Light.
Light
Light is a heightened form of soulfire. It is stronger and more powerful and has the ability to create life. Beings of light include any being that is outside the void and exists within the living multiverse. Bringing light into the void can be just as dangerous for the denizens of the void and the void itself as the inverse is.
overloaD
A soul is designed to contain a certain amount of Corruption and Soulfire. The soul is set up for the maximum natural lifespan of the individual it belongs to, but if a person were to gain unnatural immortality, their soul could become overloaded with corruption. When overload happens, Corruption leaves the soul in any way it can, infecting the surrounding world, and corrupting those it comes into contact with. Extreme overload causes corruption to leak from any orifice it can. Overloading this severely can be very dangerous. Corruption creates a blockage in the throat and lowers inhibitions. Others who happen to come into contact with the corruption will be infected with it and could receive very severe burns and injuries.
Nightmares are especially susceptible to overload. They are able to continuously absorb corruption forever, overwhelming their own bodies with the black ichor. Nightmares can hold quite a bit of corruption around their souls, so typically one soul’s worth of corruption will not create an overload, but overindulgence by means of multiple souls, or godlike souls is entirely possible. Unfortunately, most have no idea when they are supposed to stop at first, the early symptoms of overload being hard to recognize, with the later symptoms being severe, but not enough to get past the mental barrier created by a surplus of corruption.
Many Nightmares end up becoming addicted to overloading if their soul partner doesn't find them soon enough and intervene. The more corruption a Nightmare absorbs, the more powerful their abilities, so an overloaded Nightmare is a terrifying force indeed. This overload in a Nightmare also causes an overload of soulfire in their soul partner.

The Space Between (also known as The Between) is a location existing between dream and reality, consciousness and physical matter. The Between is made of a substance called dream matter, which does not physically exist but can be perceived, touched, smelled, heard, and tasted. This matter also happens to partly make up Dreamforms physically.
Each unique Dreamform gets their own pocket dimension within the Between which they often fill with all their personal items, knick-knacks, and treasures. The Between manifests as reality bending vistas or locations that aren’t quite right, as if in a dream. Over time a Dreamform’s between begins to reflect the inner nature of the owner. This shift can include new spaces, additions of rooms, weather, plants and even entities, but cannot create souls. Any entities within a Dreamform’s between will not have a soul and cannot harm the owner of the between, but souls introduced to the between by being brought there may possess objects, entities, and even weather within.
Some Dreamforms use their Between more than others, and some even have the ability to shape their Between by manipulating dream matter. Every Dreamform will use this space differently. Some may use it as storage, an office, a home, a sanctuary, a place to blow off steam, a space to mess around in or practice, and much much more.
Dreamforms may grant or revoke access to other multiverse travellers at will, and this ability often is reflexive. Travellers who attempt to enter a closed between will find themselves ramming into a barrier as if it were a wall and being projected backwards. Other dream shapers may be able to tear a hole in this wall and gain access, but they would need to know of the pocket they are trying to enter first. The Between may act violently towards intruders, reading the individual’s inner consciousness in order to find the best defence against them. This is easily mitigated by the Dreamform’s presence within their Between.
Dreamforms can manipulate Potentia in various ways. The two main ways this occurs are with Redemption and Judgement. Every Nightmare has the judgement ability and every Phantasm has the redemption ability. These two abilities are so core to a Dreamform's existence, that a Dreamform must have one of them. But how their intervention ability works differs depending on the Dreamform in question.
The person being intervened with must see, hear, touch, taste, or smell the Dreamform for the ability to work. For example, Iris has the ability to judge by touch. So if another person came into contact with her hands, they would be judged. Likewise, Joy redeems by sight, so if a person were to see her eyes, they would be redeemed.
Seeing
This can include seeing one part of the Dreamform like one of their eyes, or can be seeing any part of the Dreamform, or the entire Dreamform. In some cases, covering the area can reduce or entirely nullify the effect, but for some Dreamforms, even this isnt enough to avoid setting off their ability. Seeing abilities often come with an inability for a intervenee to look away, scaling with the potency of the ability.
Hearing
This can be as specific as a certain noise the Dreamform makes, like clapping, or it can be activated by all sound the Dreamform makes including their movements and clothing. Some Dreamforms can use voice modulating devices or other similar devices to protect those around them from accidental intervention, but some cant. Generally once a person starts hearing an intervention ability, they will not be able to stop, scaling with the potency of a Dreamforms intervention.
Touching
This can be as simple as a touch with a finger tip, or it can activate as soon as one feels the Dreamform's presence. Those with milder triggers can sometimes use clothing or other barriers to protect others, but not always. This ability can and often does make it difficult or impossible to pull away once a Dreamform has made contact, scaling with potency.
Tasting
This can be as easy as a Dreamform spitting in someones food, or it can require more intimate tasting. For the sake of being PG, we'll leave this one to your imagination. In cases where the the intervenee is directly tasting a Dreamform, they will be unable to stop on their own.
Remember to put a content warning before anything you make that takes this to a dark place.
Smelling
This can be a specific smell, like an aroma produced when the dreamform focuses, or any smell the dreamform puts off. Some scent based Dreamforms can mask their intervening scent via perfumes or other means, but some cannot.
Subtle Triggers
An ability that is triggered via an indiscernible stimulation, like a soft brush against someones clothes that they might not notice, or a sound at a frequency that cannot be detected is still a viable means of intervention, however these tend to be much weaker intervention abilities.
Intensity
The more powerful an intervention ability is, the more inconvenient or disabling it becomes. Iris, for example, simply has to wear gloves and she is able to keep people safe from her Judgement, so her ability is weaker. Joy's Redemption, on the other hand, is very strong, with “bring people to their knees” levels of strength. Because of this she is physically blind and must cover her eyes so that she doesn't accidentally redeem someone.
Judgement tends to be much more effective at removing corruption than Redemption. So while Redemption is less likely to result in trauma, often a Phantasm has to do multiple sessions of Redemption to truly purge a soul of corruption. Where as typically, Judgement only takes one session but is usually more traumatizing.
As with everything in existence, there are exceptions to this rule, although they are rather rare.
NOTE - Consent
If used in roleplay, do not use these abilities without the consent of your roleplay partner. There are ways you can avoid them if your partner does not wish for their character to experience them.Always ask.These are character and story altering abilities, and changes like that to a character or story must be done consensually.
juDgement
Nightmares have the ability to judge someone. This ability is a nightmare state where the person must face their negative actions and their own insecurities and shortcomings. Their mental barriers are pulled away and all that remains is fear, sorrow and empathy. Those with empathy disorders are still effected by this, as this is externally produced empathy. By doing this, Nightmares are able to rip away the corruption from around the subject's soul and consume it as energy to be processed.Nightmares typically do not get to see any illusions their ability creates for the judgee, so while the judgee is experiencing the worst thing in their life, a Nightmare would just see the person writhing, cowering, or sobbing on the floor.This very powerful ability loses potency depending on how much corruption exists around the soul. A child who hasn’t had the opportunity to make negative choices would likely only feel uncomfortable and on edge, as if looking at something uncanny, whereas an unnatural immortal who sought the destruction of their universe would be brought to their knees and would have lasting repercussions from the experience.Judgement can be a traumatic experience for the person experiencing it, and without the council and after care of the Nightmare or their Phantasm, they may be liable to experience a wide variety of trauma based mental health issues in response.Once all Corruption has been removed, it is possible to draw in the soul of the judgee along with the corruption. The Nightmare typically cant tell the difference between drawing in a soul or corruption, but the Judgee will begin to show symptoms of essence sickness as an early warning sign (see Death and Souls for more info). This isnt the only cue a Nightmare can learn. Paying attention to corruption levels, and watching for signs of emotional numbness can also be a sign.
reDemption
Redemption is the opposite of judgement. Instead of showing you your past negative actions, redemption shows you your future positive actions. Everything positive you can do and everything positive that can be done to you. The person being redeemed has all barriers pulled away until they can experience the joy this ability brings. All these possibilities flashing before one's eyes can become overwhelming. This ability does not predict the future, but rather it shows every branching path your life could take.
Some Phantasms can control what possibilities are shown, but this usually indicates a potent and debilitating intervention ability. For most Phantasms, It is more the redeemee's soul that controls what is shown, under neither partie's active control.
Unlike judgement, redemption does not increase with power relative to the amount of corruption a person has, instead it increases based on how closely it reaches the soul. This can be literal like with touch abilities where the hand must slowly move closer to the heart, or it can be emotional, like taste abilities, where an intentional taste is far more powerful than an accidental one.
It may surprise you to learn that Redemption isnt all sunshine and rainbows. How overwhelming this ability can be, and sometimes the things shown are still scary or downright terrifying to witness. Creation does not always mean good things, and even Phantasms who can control what is seen learn that even a very good thing can still show up in traumatizing situations. For example; childbirth, rescuing someone else from a traumatizing situation, etc.

Dream Abilities
Dreamforms are partially made up of dream matter, the energy that literal dreams are made of. And so they have several abilities concerning dream matter. Dreamforms tend to either specialize in the physical side, or the dream matter side, and those who do not specialize tend to be average in both. This specialization can be like a learned skill, but more often than not, dreamforms tend to be drawn one way or the other.
Often a dreamform who naturally is drawn to dream abilities will have trouble learning abilities in the physical world and vice versa. This does not mean that it is impossible, and if a dreamform who is naturally adept at one way wishes to be adept at the other, it can be achieved through hard work. Some dreamforms however do find this to be impossible. Usually, these dreamforms are incredibly naturally gifted on one side and find the other side barely manageable. This all comes down to how much dream matter vs physical matter a dreamform has in them. If there is only just enough physical matter within them to process potentia, then they may find it devastatingly debilitating to function in the physical realm.
Energy Sight
Both Phantasms and Nightmares have an ability called Energy Sight. This ability allows them to see souls, search the Multiverse from the Between for certain energies, see potentia, and more.Soul Sight
Every soul has a unique aura to them. Some Dreamforms can glean limited information from them about the person they are looking at. Some simply see a metaphorical mood board. Most often auras are visions of imagery, but sometimes they can visually alter how the dreamform perceives the person, simply give information as if it was being told to the dreamform telepathically, or manifest as foreign emotions. For example:
❝When he took in her aura, he saw fields of sunflowers blooming and looking towards the sun, he could almost smell the summer breeze. In his vision, in the center of the field was a tree, gnarled and ancient with hundreds of scars from the storms it had withstood in its lifetime.❞
❝They knew that this person was a cheat, they could sense it from his aura. But they had no way to guess how he cheated and just what he was cheating. He could be cheating death, cheating on a partner, or cheating in a game. But he was disloyal somewhere.❞
❝To anyone else, they looked like your average human, but to her she could see the lines of gold across their skin, the markings that looked like paint on fine china, delicate and intricate designs done by a master artisan. The gold held those fragile pieces of them together. Once the vision faded, it was hard not to see them that way permanently.❞
This can give some Dreamforms information about the individual's mental state, emotional state, clues into their interests and hobbies, and even stat levels where that applies.
Note - Writing Soul Sight
Please don't force fourth wall breaking stats into a story where they don't belong. The best way to go about writing another character’s aura is to give your roleplay partner an example of how your dreamform sees auras and let them write it in their response. If your roleplay partner chooses not to write it for themself, ensure you get the information you need from them to write an accurate portrayal of their character. Ensure you know where your partner’s boundaries lie in how much information you are able to obtain from this ability. This ability is very useful for adding color to your stories, but overuse can make your dreamform frustrating to engage with.
Searching the Multiverse
The multiverse is infinite and it would be impossible for a Dreamform to find food if they didn't have a way to search through it. From the Between, Dreamforms can search the multiverse. This is not a visual or even a very eventful ability. It's a feeling that guides the Dreamform to where they hope to go. If a Dreamform is good at Energy Sight, they may also get bits of information from the world around the energy they were looking for.Sometimes this is even enough for a Dreamform to pre-emptively look from energy to energy to understand what to expect from the universe they are about to travel to. Energy blockades and barriers will nullify this ability. This also does not give insight into the physical, but rather the mental and emotional side of the coin. It can still be very useful, as a universe full of fear is likely to be dangerous.
Potentia Sight
Phantasms can see the potential futures of everything around them. The more powerful this ability is, the more overwhelming and distracting it is. It cannot be turned off and goes on constantly. Most Phantasms who have a very strong potentia sight ability, often get lost in the possibilities, spacing off for hours without much warning, sometimes in inconvenient and dangerous places. It's not easy to snap them out of, and some may need more convincing than others. But for those with a minimal ability, it can be ignored as a background process till it’s needed.For Nightmares, this ability occurs in their dreams when sleeping outside of the between. It assists with processing the corruption they obtained and as a result, causes them to leak corruption from their face. Oftentimes this causes self judgement for the dreamer and many Nightmares choose to avoid using it entirely. However, it is very healthy for them, and a Nightmare who sleeps outside the Between regularly, has the benefit of a better functioning body, making their specialties really shine.It's possible for Phantasms to have a Potentia Sight ability that functions only in sleep like for Nightmares, and for Nightmares to have a Potentia Sight ability that occurs at all times like for Phantasms, but it's very rare.
Dreamwalking
Dreamwalking is the ability to enter the dreams of others. Dreamwalking occurs when a Dreamform sleeps in the Between. They can enter anyone's dream as long as the target is sleeping at the time of the dreamwalk. Their ability to interact with the dream varies greatly, however. Some Dreamforms can only watch the dream like a bystander, and some can fully manipulate the dream they are in. The more powerful the Dreamwalking ability, the less powerful their Intervention abilities are.However, some serious dreamwalkers can also use their intervention in dreams, and intervention done within a dream for these dreamforms can be incredibly powerful, though most likely very weak outside of the dream realm.Dream Manipulation
Those who have powerful Dream abilities can manipulate dreams, and therefore can manipulate the Between to their whims. Depending on just how powerful they are, it may take a good amount of time and lots of energy to do so. Some very powerful Dreamforms may even be able to manipulate their own bodies to shapeshift. They usually cannot shapeshift into more than 3 or 4 different forms, and cannot do it on a whim, as it takes concentration and focus.Nourishment ReliantDreamforms have many other abilities, most of which have to do with their unique body composition. How well these other abilities work has to do with largely how well nourished they are. The less corruption a Nightmare absorbs, the weaker their and their soul-partner's abilities will be.Fast Healing
Healthy, well fed Dreamforms heal very quickly. This happens even faster for a dreamform when they are using their intervention ability
Teleportation
Dreamforms can teleport all around the multiverse. If they are injured or at very low levels of corruption or soulfire, their teleportation can get a little haywire, sending them into places they weren't trying to go or not teleporting them at all. Some are better with teleportation than others, but in almost all cases, they need to have visited or scanned the location from their between before they can accurately teleport there.
Much, much more
Dreamforms can have all sorts of other abilities. These abilities are up to you to decide. If your Dreamform has wings, list flight as an ability. You want to give them telekinesis? go for it. Don't let your dreams be dreams, let them be Dreamforms.
Dreamforms are partly dream matter and this has some interesting effects on them.
Lightweight
Dream matter does not have weight and so the less physical a dreamform is, the less they will weigh For example a dreamform made up of 50% dream matter and 50% physical matter will only weigh half the expected units of their height, muscle mass, and fat distribution.Strong
The more physical matter a dreamform has, the more they can lift. A dreamform who is 50/50 will be able to lift 2x as much as expected due to how the potentia they contain affects their physical matter.
Processing Corruption
Most dreamforms have some physical way to process corruption. Usually, this takes the appearance of an organ that exists in whatever species they resemble. But they typically also have the equivalent of a vascular system that pumps corruption to all areas of their body so they can function. For Phantasms this vascular system pumps soulfire. For Nightmares it pumps corruption.Dreamforms don't bleed blood cells, but they do lose corruption or soulfire through their wounds, which in Nightmares, looks like dark old viscous blood, and in Phantasms looks like a glowing shimmering liquid.The sustenance flowing through a Dreamforms body is unfiltered. So it is partly physical, which is why it manifests as a fluid.
Processing OrgansThe organ a dreamform uses to process corruption is the only functioning organ they have aside from a heart or whatever species equivalent organ they have to pump their nutrients. Any other organs are purely cosmetic and will not function. For example a dreamform whose organ is the stomach will need to eat, but their skin will not produce nor lose cells.
This organ is vital to process the physical aspects of corruption/soulfire, to make it safe to transfer through their soul to their partner (in the case of Nightmares), or to release pure potentia into their environment without the impurities that come from processing through the soul (in the case of Phantasms)This organ is effectively useless to daymares as they don't release and process raw potentia anymore, they simply use what they collect for energy. (see Death and Souls for more about Daymares)The processing organ turns the physical byproduct into a state that is equivalent to whatever organ it resembles, for example processing through the lungs will turn it into vapor. Or through physical skin into particles.Whatever organ the body is using to process this is entirely physical with no dream matter as part of it. So dreamforms processing through a visible organ like the skin, eyes, nails/hair, etc will not be able to shapeshift these parts with dream manipulation, as no part of the organ is dream matter.This organ can be vital or non-vital in the replicated species. It can also be only part of the organ if the organ is big enough. This is part of what determines a Nightmare's capacity for corruption.
Dreamforms who do not have stomachs can still eat, it just falls into the cavity of their body and is dissolved by the corruption or soulfire therein.Dreamforms who have the proper organs can reproduce, but pregnancies from dreamforms are more likely to be miscarriages. And most dreamforms don't have a full set of organs for the purpose of reproduction, as it's rather rare for dreamforms to have more than one organ for processing.
Any existing organs that do not process byproducts for the dreamform are facades of the real thing. Dreamform bodies are more akin to shells to contain the few anatomical parts they need to do their jobs.Some dreamforms may have shell organs that are non-functioning and made of dream matter, and most have muscle structure, flesh, and bone, but these too are partly dream matter and thus are not fully physical.
Dreamforms can look like anything so long as they are big enough to have at least one organ for processing.On Spawn
Dreamforms spawn in the Between nude and usually look like they have been there for centuries. Their hair is a mess of tangles that have become overgrown. Usually, Dreamforms find clothing to wear and style their hair as well as finding other ways to groom their appearance to one suitable to their preferences.
Traits
Often the special traits a dreamform is born with have to do with their past life. If a dreamform in their past life had a love for fish and aquariums, they might have hair like water that fish freely swim through. If they experienced a traumatic event, they might have an eternal scar that marks that occasion. If someone close to them loved gardening, they may have flowers growing from their skin.
There isn't always a reason for these fantastical traits, however. Being partly made of dream matter can simply have some ethereal effects on one's appearance.
Following is a brief description of some of the more notable traits a dreamform can have. And some art to show off the features. Be sure to check the resources section for links to the pinterest board with further examples of these traits
Flora
Some Dreamforms have flowers or other flora growing from their bodies. Some Dreamforms may use these flora as a part of their intervention. This can be any sort of flora including fungi, flowers, grass, moss, bush/tree growths, and even mold.
Not Hair
Dreamforms can have hair that is made of water, hair made of leaves, hair that contains things, hair that separates as they move like smoke, and much more.
Dream Freckles
The most common feature dreamforms have is dream freckles. Often these appear as glowing scattered dots on the skin, but they can be in any simple shape, such as hearts, stars, triangles, and commonly are connected by thin lines creating constellations across the body.
Horns, Halos, Wings, and More
Dreamforms can form with traits common to other species as well, such as horns, antlers, scales, fangs, wings, and more.
Soul Eyes
Dreamforms often form with eyes that would be unnatural for their base species. Many believe they are representations of a Dreamforms soul, but this is just a myth.
Void Touched
Dreamforms may have vanta black markings across their skin that seem to absorb light. Often this is a result of interactions with the void or void-like beings in their past lives.This can also occur as a result of interacting with the void in their current life, their interaction leaving a permanent reminder of the dangers of void poisoning.
Eternal Scars
It's quite common for dreamforms to appear with scars that never fade or disappear. These scars usually exist for a reason, but the reason varies from dreamform to dreamform. If an intense trauma occurs during a dreamforms past life, or even during their current life, sometimes an eternal scar forms in response to the traumatic event.
Fractals
Many dreamforms have floating shapes and objects that follow them around. Often appearing and disappearing. Usually these are just shapes made of light or shimmering effects, but sometimes these are opaque objects. These objects can be 2d or 3d, and can be of any shape imaginable.These objects cannot be interacted with except in some very rare cases.
Glitter
Some dreamforms naturally have glittery glimmery hair or skin. The most common way this shows is in patches on the skin, or in hair.
Real traits and conditions
While dreamforms are immune to any condition that does not effect their processing organ, they can still form with the appearance of physical conditions and traits. This usually only happens in the case where a dreamform had that condition or trait in their past life, however in some rare cases they can lose the physical manifestation of a condition they used to have, or gain the manifestation of one they didnt have.
Feathered
Some dreamforms grow feathers in place of hair. Sometimes in place of eye-lashes, facial hair, brows, the hair atop their head, or in place of fur in the case of furred dreamforms
Body art
Dreamforms may form with artistic imagery across their skin. This can look like tattoos, but can also look painted, glow, or otherwise not look like ink.
Blacklight Markings
Some dreamforms have markings that only show under certain light wavelengths, the most common being UV and Blacklight. These can be of any shape imaginable and do not always look like naturally occuring markings. Often these markings tie into a past life in some way, whether by shapes depicting an event or by taking the place of markings or scars in their past life.
Colorful
Dreamforms often have unnatural skin tones, hair, eyes, or patches of color scattered around their body. These colors do not need to be congruent for their base species.Please be cognizant of racial stereotypes when choosing a non-human skin tone. Certain skin tones with certain eye types and facial shapes can easily become a racial stereotype that is harmful. Perpetuating stereotypes harms equality and equity efforts, and reinforces harmful views of POC.
Iridescence
Iridescence in skin, hair, eyes, or anywhere else on the dreamform, are not uncommon.Colorful rainbows glimmer across the skin like they were coated in a thin layer of titanium.
Glowing
Dreamforms can have glowing features, hair, skin, markings, eyes, or even glowing saliva. Any part of a dreamform may glow for any reason or no reason.Often the brilliance or color will respond to emotion, corruption levels, or intensity of focus.
GlitchyDreamforms often form with traits that make no sense in context with their environment, and one of those traits is glitches. Squares of unexpected color, displaced bits that hang off the sides of their bodies, and other abnormalities that would usually only appear in the context of pixels and film.
Light spots
Some Dreamforms may have dancing sunspots as if the sun were shining through the trees onto their skin or through something else. These light spots may be still or they can move like shadows dancing in the wind.These sunspots usually do not effect clothes or things the dreamform is wearing, only effecting the Dreamform's body
Sky Patches
Some Dreamforms have markings that appear to be animated depictions of the sky. It is akin to Galaxy Marks, in that it can appear painted, or it can look like a window into another world.
Embeds
Many dreamforms have pearl-like or crystal-like formations on their hair and bodies. These naturally grow and are a part of the dreamform; they are not actually pearls or gemstones but could be passed off as them to an untrained eye.
Surrealism
Some Dreamforms have bodies and/or faces that don't seem natural or are split up in surreal or seemingly impossible ways. This can end up looking anatomically impossible or it can simply cause the dreamform to look like living surrealist paintings or sculptures(Cant say this is easy to draw, but it also has a vast array of possibilities)
Skin Foil
Dreamforms can have flakes of what often appears to be gold leaf on their bodies. But this is part of the dreamforms skin, hair, or fur and is not actually gold leaf. These metallic flakes can come in all sorts of shades and colors though.
Galaxy Marks
Some dreamforms have patches of skin that appear to contain a galaxy. This can be very surface level, looking almost like a constantly shifting face painting, or it can seem as if it were a portal to outer space.
Before a Dreamform ever forms, they lived a life as a different species. Often these past lives, sometimes more than one, influence how the Dreamform exists.They usually do not remember these past lives aside from the occasional fragmented flashbacks and vague feelings.Appearance
Most Dreamforms look like how they did in their past life, though there is a level of randomness to this too. For example, in Kayn's past life he was AMAB (Assumed Male at Birth) but when he reincarnated into a Dreamform he formed with what would be an AFAB (Assumed Female at Birth) body. It's important to note however that his gender didn't change, just his body. It is the same soul as before, just turned into a dreamform. The body can change, but who they were does not.Ties and Connections
Most dreamforms form a net of connections with the future lives of those they knew in their past life. For example, when Judge was Kayden, he knew Rene and Keres and was their partner. And when he reincarnated he met a Rene out in the Multiverse and a god of death named Keres, both of which became partners. This is not a strict rule, however, and it is also common for Dreamforms to make new connections and never meet their old connections. Even so, these past connections often influence their preferences for those they wish to be around and those they wish to avoid.If this connection is deep enough, there is a slim chance that two or three will end up as one dreamform, like in the case of Gaia, or as soul partners in a dreamform duo.
Influence
Past lives can influence characteristics, for example; a dreamform who lost their eye in their mortal life may end up using their eye for intervention. A dreamform who in their past life had a deep connection with plants may then sprout plants from their skin as a dreamform. A dreamform who died under a tree with sun shining through the leaves may have shifting sun spots across their skin permanently.This can also be a poetic correlation. For example, a dreamform who would have been considered to have a heart of gold may have a golden sheen under their skin. Or a dreamform who in their past life was responsible for thousands of deaths may have red-toned hands as if they were stained by blood.
Dreamforms have souls that resemble black holes and their white hole counterparts. As corruption is drawn into the Nightmare's soul, it is expelled from the Phantasm's soul as Potentia. This process has some effects on a Dreamform's body
Essence Sickness
Along with the corruption a Nightmare processes, parts of their essence are also drawn into the soul to be converted to potentia. Likewise, Phantasm's souls expel traces of their essence into the air. If left too long a Dreamform can become sick.Symptoms
- Loss of sense of self
- Aimlessness and restlessness
- Loss of emotional connection
- Dissociation
- Physical Numbness
- Ghosting (Physical parts of a Dreamform's body becoming transparent)
- Eventually coma and death.
Drawing in Other Selves
Due to the nature of the fabric of reality, many alternate timelines exist and this is no exception for a dreamform. When a dreamform enters into a dimension, universe or pocket with another timelines version of themself the two versions are drawn together and integrate into one person. The Between is a guaranteed method of making this happen but it can occur anywhere. In this process, the eldest of the two takes precedence and identifies with that timeline. The body's essence is reset as well, preventing essence sickness.
Plurality
This can in some cases, present as plurality, creating a plural system of alternate selves. More often than not however, this process results in the death of the younger soul. If an unrelated soul, for example the soul of a partner, is somehow drawn into the soul of a dreamform, that soul would normally die, and the dreamform would take precedent, but in very rare cases, if the soul of an immortal who is completely incapable of dying is drawn in somehow, this may result in plurality as well, with the outside immortal and the dreamform being two distinct entities within the dreamform’s body.
Plurality can also occur when multiple people are so bonded they end up in one dreamform body together. This is quite rare as typically this level of close relationship displays in soul partners instead. This can be any form of relationship; from love to hate, from aplatonic to romantic, from familial to even parasocial. so long as both parties feel intrinsically bonded, there is a small chance they will reincarnate as a dreamform together
Death
Death affects Dreamforms differently. In technical terms, they are Reliant Recurring Immortals. They are immortal through revival so long as things go their way.When a Dreamform dies their soul creates a supernova that eventually draws inward and collects all nearby matter including their own body into a single point. This point is a glowing star, high in density and mass. Touching it burns and it is very heavy. Only their soul partner or someone who is very strong and unable to be burned can carry it.In this state, the dreamform experiences an effect similar to being comatose. They cannot interact with the outside world, and dreams take over their consciousness. Most Dreamforms can communicate with others who sleep near the star by entering the person's dreams, however they are likely to be slightly dazed during the interaction.All other abilities including normal Dreamwalking are unable to be used.
Revival
If the star of a dead dreamform encounters an alternate timeline version of themself, the soul reacts as it normally would, merging with the alternate form. This process allows the dreamform to essentially come back to life. This process is obviously expedited by taking the star to the dreamforms between.
When Your Other Half Dies
Death of a dreamforms other half affects Phantasms and Nightmares differently.For Nightmares, as soon as their Phantasm stops expelling potentia for them, their soul automatically creates and/or connects to another Phantasm.For Phantasms, when their Nightmare dies, their soul stops outputting potentia. They no longer need to worry about losing essence, but their food source is cut off. Phantasms who have a dead soul due to the loss of their counterpart will either slowly die of starvation or begin the arduous process of learning how to pull in corruption via potentia manipulation becoming a daymareDaymares
Phantasms who learn how to Judge via potentia manipulation are their own breed of Dreamform. While they are very rare, these self-sufficient dreamforms do happen. Their faux Judgement ability is never as powerful as a Nightmare's. These beings can heal but can be killed. There is no supernova when they die, they just die, leaving behind a corpse that doesn't rot. Their bodies remain perfectly preserved even after their soul leaves.They no longer have the ability to redeem as soulfire is no longer produced. They can teleport and do whatever makeshift judgement they've fixed up for themselves. They still will have other abilities, but to the fabric of reality, they are dead, failed souls with no purpose anymore but to survive.Many Daymares end up choosing to let their lives end, but some have the determination and drive to live. Some extend their life again to immortal standards. They still do not need to eat, drink, or sleep, depending on their physicality, and are still able to dream walk.It is possible to reconnect to their Nightmare’s soul by hunting down the new Phantasm and forcing them to merge with them. It is also possible for a Nightmare who disconnected from their old Phantasm to connect randomly to the daymare’s soul.

We dont care if you want to make an overpowered dreamform, just be prepared for others to not enjoy their character as much.
